Davide Romeo Meraviglia chosen by Lancia

The director wil be part of the "Y Generation" campaign by the car manufacturer

The "Y Generation" is the most talked-about. The one that everyone tries to understand about tastes and habits, but also the one that escapes any definition. Millennials are the young protagonists of today's world, constantly hyper-connected, clashing with a world that is changing at fast speed. Lancia has decided to find out who they are, listening to them and giving voice to their talent. Thus was born "Y Generation", an initiative that involved ten filmmakers called to express their vision of the world in ten different short films. All of this was possible thanks to the collaboration with OffiCine - IED / Anteo, a cultural project of film formation born from Anteo SpazioCinema and Istituto Europeo di Design. The artistic supervisors of the project are two outstanding artists such as Ambra Angiolini (winner of a David di Donatello, a Nastro d'Argento, a Golden Globe and a Ciak d'Oro) and Adriano Giannini (actor and voice actor directed by Guy Ritchie, Paolo Sorrentino and Steven Soderbergh).

Davide Romeo Meraviglia is one of the ten directors chosen by Lancia: "If I had to describe Millennials with just one word - said the director - I would choose 'change'. I have great consideration for our generation, which has experienced a historic era marked by enormous changes: September 11 and the economic crisis but also the rise of the internet. I think that this ever-changing scenario has made us more and more active and curious: these are the years of tweets and "stay hungry, stay foolish". We are always asking for more and more o entertainment. There is no more difference between mainstream cinema and quality cinema. Mainstream is also quality. T series like "House of Cards" and "Breaking Bad" are works which display of enormous complexity and they are appreciated by mainstream public and by critics as well. For this reason, in my short film I want to show love - a theme that has been shown in every possible way - in a new, different, disruptive form. In my fim a man and a woman meet and fall in love, no words are needed; their gestures and their bodies are enough. A subtle balance between cinema, music and performance, that's what my film is about. I am grateful to Lancia and OffiCine for helping me make this film. I think that in 2017, looking for people who have an innovative and interesting point of view and giving them the opportunity to express themselves is a courageous and far-sighted goal".
